Description

An accountant is a practitioner of accounting or accountancy, which is the measurement, disclosure or provision of assurance about financial information that helps managers, investors, tax authorities and others make decisions about allocating resources.

In many jurisdictions, professional accounting bodies maintain standards of practice and evaluations for professionals.

Requirements

Report directly to CEO (Registrar)
Bachelor of Accountancy from a recognised university with full ACCA, MBA will be an added advantage
Full Grade 12 / Form V School Certificate
Minimum of 8 years working experience of which 5 should be at a Senior Level in a reputable organisation i.e. Regulatory Statutory Board or Public Institutions will be an added advantage
Goal-orientated and able to work independently to achieve results, as well as collaborate in a diverse team
Excellent English language oral and written communication skills
Able to write analytical and technical reports
Computer literate and knowledgeable of all accounting packages

Responsabilities

Supervises diligently the preparation of financial reports in order to facilitate decision making Supervises effectively the maintenance of books and accounts in order to account for financial resources Coordinates timely preparation of the institutional budget in order to facilitate mobilsation and allocation of resources Supervises effectively preparation of responses to audit queries in order to facilitate decision making Ensures timely banking of revenue collections in order to safeguard public funds Supervises effectively payments on behalf of the Council in order to ensure that the Council meets financial obligations Supervises timely recoveries of loans, advances and other recoverables in order to facilitate repayments Supervises timely development of individual and departmental work plans and performance appraisals in order to monitor and evaluate departmental and individual performance; and Supervises effectively the utilization of resources in order to attain the objectives of the department
