Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the following vacancy. The position will be based in Ndola.

Financial Controller

Job Purpose: Maximizes return on financial resources by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.

Requirements

Fully qualified Accountant (ACA,ACCA, CIMA, University Degree or equivalent) with previous financial control and management reporting experience; minimum of 5 years post qualification experience; demonstrated experience managing a diverse accounting team; a confident self-starter, with the ability to operate in a dynamic environment; ability to demonstrate attention to detail, sound judgment, excellent communication and facilitation skills and a hands on approach; computer literate with excellent Excel skills and solid understanding of accounting software principles, preferably Pastel.

Responsabilities

Establish, monitor, and enforce financial policies and procedures Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls Liaise with external auditors and coordinate completion of audits for several DAPP projects and other entities Work with the country and project leadership as well as the finance team to prepare timely and accurate management reports Complete and review the monthly group consolidation Review financial and related processes and assist with initiatives to improve and streamline those processes Provide information and input as required by the country leadership and donors to assist with budgeting and forecasting Coordinate with country and project leadership as well as the finance team and provide information as required to assist with preparation of variance and other analyses Ensure the books are closed on a monthly basis in a timely manner and make recommendations for improvements to reduce close cycle times Ensure all accounts are appropriately reconciled and reviewed on a monthly basis Manage the DAPP finance team to include but not limited to team building, coaching and mentoring, performance reviews and staff development Manage the cash management and treasury functions Identify, research and make recommendations for adherence to General Acceptable Accounting Principles and International Accounting Standards and other technical accounting issues Assess, mitigate and manage financial risks Lead capital procurement, asset valuation and management as well as related requirements associated with inventory accounting Ensure compliance with statutory regulations (taxation, annual returns, social protection, etc.)
