Child Protection Officer

• University Degree preferably in Law, Social/Political Science, Journalism or related field
• A minimum of 2 years of experience. Experience in human rights, humanitarian issues or child protection is an asset
• Fluency in English and Hausa (both written and orally), Knowledge of Kanuri is an asset
• Demonstrated track record of academic/field research as well as knowledge of data base management and analysis is desirable.
• Experience of working with government, NGO and community-based partners.
• Ability to work independently under difficult conditions as a team and with tight deadlines.
• Willingness to travel to remote and conflict-affected areas.
• Excellent communication skills

Provide technical support for the design and implementation of Monitoring and Reporting Mechanism (MRM) subgroup's work plan and activities in Borne and Yobe States; Serve as resource person for partners on capacity building and awareness raising activities; Convene monthly coordination and capacity building meetings of MRM subgroups; Act as State-level focal person for both States in the coordination of MRM data collection and timely input into the regular Nigeria MRM reporting; Co-chair monthly meetings of and provide secretariat support to the Child Protection Networks in Borno and Yobe States with focus on coordination of referrals and services; Assist relevant Government actors in convening quarterly state-level inter-ministerial committees meetings; Provide overall support to programme management including the development of state- level work plans, programme reviews, budgeting, donor reports, etc.
