The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) invites applications from qualified Zambians to apply for the following position:

Human Resources Assistant – Temporary Appointment, GS-4 (General Service Category, Level 4),for 11 months (with possible extension) to be based in Lusaka. The staff will be under the close supervision of the Human Resource Specialist.

Requirements

  • Completion of Secondary School. A Diploma in Human Resources Administration or Public Administration or its equivalent in relevant experience is an asset with minimum of 3 years progressive work experience with a good knowledge of HR practices and procedures preferably in the area of staff training and development. Fluency in English language is required.

Responsabilities

-Maintain attendance records for all staff in SAP/VISION including updating of annual leave, monitoring of sick leave, and home leave points for international staff. -Process requests for rental subsidy, education grant, education grant travel for international staff. -Monitor performance appraisal system at all levels for timely completion. -Take timely action regarding extension of appointments and other contractual arrangements for staff in both international and national staff categories. -Assist in the documentation of recruitment and maintaining/updating of recruitment status (regular, temporary appointment and consultant services) -Assist in the recruitment process National Officers and General Service staff by providing HR support including, advertising, short-listing, developing comparative matrix as well as coordinating and arranging telephonic and in-person interviews. -Assist in preparation of recruitment minutes and justification notes. -Maintain official status files including consultant’s files. -Prepare and update on a periodic basis the UNICEF staff lists for UNDSS, UN Medical Service, including updating OPSCEN emergency contact lists. -Maintain and update the office organogram and communication tree. -Provide support to staff members when processing requests for UN Access Cards, Laissez-Passer, medical bills, etc. -Any ad hoc assignment provided by the HR Specialist.
