Description

Reporting to the Safety Superintendent, you will be responsible for ensuring LMC complies with the statutory requirements with regards to the number of employees trained in First Aid as guided by the Council of First Aid of the Zambia Chamber of Mines. Provide effective First Aid instruction in compliance with Mining Regulation 1201-1210. Your duties will include but not limited to the following:

Diploma in Nursing or Clinical Sciences
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a First Aid Trainer
Must be a holder of a Gold Medal and Instructors Certificate in Mining First Aid
Demonstrated ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness
Demonstrated success as an effective leader.
Must have good written and oral communication skills and strong report writing and presentation skills.
High level understanding of all relevant legislation affecting the employment and safety of persons in the mining industry in Zambia
Must have Good computer skills in MS Office with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet applications.
Accreditation to Chamber of Mines Zambia Council for First Aid

Responsabilities

Provide theoretical and practical First Aid and Primary Health care lessons up to Gold Medal Certificate to equip employees with skills and knowledge required to handle the injured safely until more qualified help arrives. Prepare and implement a First Aid Training program to facilitate first aid training, examination and certification. Coordinate the formation and preparation of the First Aid teams among employees of LMC and business partners for inter departmental and inter mine First Aid competitions. Maintain records of employees First Aid certificates to advise on expiry dates and courses. Lead and develop the capacity of health and safety officers by supervising inspection of First Aid equipment across the site. Control the purchase of First Aid requisites to maintain and replace damaged equipment and replenish stocks as required. Support the safety team by participating in activities to promote safe working practices on the mine site. Accountable for completion of all tasks identified in the Management Operating System (MOS) to the specified quality and timelines as assigned to this role Develop, implement and maintain safe work procedures and promote high safety and health awareness. Promote and comply with the LMC Occupational Health & Safety Policy. Be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the team Ensure appropriate facilities, procedures and workforce competence to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner. Ensure the development and maintenance of up to date job procedures for all tasks performed within the function. Develop the annual First Aid Training Plan, by training needs analysis against Annual Health and Safety Plan and current competency levels Liaise with other Training professionals across the operation to ensure training activity is coordinated and application of Barrick standards is consistent.
