Requirements
At least 5 years work experience in a related area such as law enforcement, immigration or prosecution is required. Practical experience in investigation and prosecution of trafficking in persons cases will be a distinct advantage;
Previous experience in capacity building including proven ability to develop manuals, facilitate workshops and deliver presentations will be a strong recommendation;
Qualifications in training and development, curriculum development and/or adult learning will be an added advantage;
Knowledge of international legal instruments against trafficking in persons and international organized crime, of trafficking in persons and the social and political environment in Southern Africa is strongly recommended;
Previous experience in a project management environment (preferably in the UN or similar environment) is recommended, and experience of implementing projects in multiple countries will be an advantage;
Previous experience of procurement of training related goods and services (preferably in a UN or similar environment) will be an advantage;
Proven ability in work in diverse and multi-disciplinary teams is essential.
Responsabilities
Supports the Project Coordinator to ensure that project activities (as per the annual costed project work plan) are carried out at country level in order to contribute to the attainment of outputs and objectives. Exercises autonomy in taking action only within the confines of agreed project documents and derived costed work plans;
Conducts situational and training needs assessments;
Plans, manages and coordinates the implementation of national Training-of-Trainer (TOT) sessions and other national training sessions, international learning excursions and regional workshops for criminal justice practitioners and other actors in the response to trafficking in persons;
Facilitates and delivers substantive contributions on trafficking in persons at workshops and trainings;
Follows up on, and supports local efforts by state counterparts to cascade TOT trainings, and provide Quality Assurance services as and when required;
Monitors all aspects of project implementation, compiles and submits training and monitoring reports, substantiated by comprehensive and adequately analysed data;
Proposes actions to the Project Coordinator in order to ensure efficient and effective training and project delivery;
Recruits consultants (in accordance with relevant UN rules) for delivering services related to training; data collection, capturing and analysis; graphic design; and web-design;
Informs and provides guidance and direction to experts and consultants, regarding logistical arrangements and internal procedures for monitoring and reporting, in terms of the immediate objectives of the project;
Coordinates and makes substantive inputs into the development of advocacy materials, websites, and data collection systems;
Makes substantive inputs into resources for criminal justice practitioners, developed by the project;
Liaises with the substantive unit at Headquarters in the development of materials and fulfilment of reporting requirements;
Prepares training and project implementation reports and assists with relevant project operations and logistical arrangements;
Assists with other related technical assistance delivery to SADC member states as required;
Provides inputs to the Project Coordinator with regard to the preparation of project budgets and work plans, related to roll out of training sessions;
Provides secretariat services for in-country meetings, and provides logistical support for visiting technical or monitoring missions for projects;
Fulfils any other duties as assigned.
